If you didn't know this already quetzals never land unless there tamed.

Tip for stamina, if you have a platform saddle and you run out of stamina in mid air, just dismount and it'll stay flying in the air while regaining stamina.

Quetzal are unable to stand on other platforms, which includes the raft. When such an animal attempts to stand on a raft, it will slide right off it. The Quetzal, on the other hand, will automatically take off upon landing on the raft.

That is the spot I recommend going to look for one the most as they are easy to spot and (approved by testing this numerous times) once one flys out of the region, another will spawn in very shortly after.
